The holiday tradition that tops all others

The holidays are always a fun time to be a pet parent.  Stuffing stockings with treats, dressing our furry friends in tacky sweaters…it’s a great time to spoil our four-legged family members.

But among the new chew toys and scratching posts there is a holiday tradition that tops all others: the holiday photo.

A timeless keepsake…most of the time

It can be a hassle, but when you get that perfect shot where all the kids are smiling and the family pet is looking in the right direction, it becomes a keepsake that you’ll cherish forever.

Case in point: check out the wonderful moments we captured at our holiday photo booth during our recent pet adoption event in Jacksonville.

Of course, not every shot turns out perfect.

The most awkward time of the year
Our friends at Awkward Family Photos have been able to turn these misunderstood photography blunders into a goldmine of hilarious, and, well, awkward tributes to the families that made them.

And now you and your pets can join in on the fun.

This week, we’re launching the Awkward Family Photo Caption Contest, a way to celebrate even the cheesiest of holiday pet photos.

The contest features a hilarious, holiday-themed photo gallery of pets and people alike in unforgettable fashions and poses. Anyone can submit their own creative photos or photo captions.

How to enter
You can submit your clever captions starting  Dec. 12 and running through Dec. 17. Participants and spectators are invited to vote for their favorite caption on the Awkward Family Photos website from Dec. 17 until Dec. 20when the winners will be announced.

 

Winners of the caption contest will receive an Awkward Family Photo gift bag, complete with their New York Times Best-Selling coffee table book, as well as an AFP-themed calendar and board game. The winning caption will be featured on the Awkward Family Photos homepage as soon as the voting is concluded.
